Description Zuni fetish artist Delvin Leekya comes from a family of carvers, and he is the grandson of Leekya Deyuse.  Delvin continues to create traditional fetishes in the style of his famous grandfather.  Delvin made this marvelous Beaver fetish out of Travertine.  The Beaver represents a hard worker, a builder and attaining a sense of achievement.  This unique carving would make a great addition to your Native American art or Zuni fetish collection.  Signed (note-there is natural fracturing in the stone) 1  5/16” tall x 2  15/16” long x 1” wide Artist card included   Zuni fetishes are carvings made from various materials by the Zuni people.  Traditionally, fetishes served a ceremonial purpose for their creators and they represented animals and figures that were part of their culture.  Today, as a form of Native American Art, they are sold to collectors worldwide.  With a myriad of materials like turquoise, shell, jet, marble, serpentine, and much more, Zuni fetish carvers are able to create carvings in a style of their own.
