Peterson pipes generally need no introduction, but just in case you’re unfamiliar: in 1876, a Latvian named Charles Peterson immigrated to Ireland and was hired making pipes in a workshop owned by Frederick and George Kapp. After rising through the ranks to become head craftsman, Peterson bought into the Kapp’s business, which was renamed, Kapp & Peterson (K&P). During this time, Peterson himself applied for several patents for pipe designs, including the world-famous Peterson’s System. Since then, Peterson has become one of the most recognizable names in pipe smoking and continues to produce high quality pipes from their headquarters in Dublin. Debuting in 2003, Peterson’s Rosslare line was designed in collaboration with Italian pipe distributor Mario Lubinski. It was a relatively high-end line, with a silver collar (originally nickel, but in this iteration, sterling) and an acrylic stem meant to evoke the amber used by Peterson’s early pipes. For the smooth variants of the Rosslare, only especially well grained stummels were used, belonging to the top 5% of Peterson’s stock. I’m not sure if the smooth variants are sold anymore. If they are, they are very difficult to find. The condition is fair. Chamber slightly over-reamed, some wear to the rim, and a couple of small nicks on the bowl.   Details: Length: 5.6″ / 142.2mm Bowl Width: 0.73 / 18.54mm Bowl Depth: 1.45″ / 36.83mm Weight: 1.4oz / 42g
